Too many things happen that gets the plot going. Sasuke leaves Konoha for power, Tsunade assigns Naruto, Shikamaru, Chouji, Kiba and Neji to go after him, however all of them fail their mission. Naruto makes Sakura the Promise of a Lifetime to retrieve their lost teammate, and before any of the Rookie 9 knew it, three years passed by.
All of the little genins have grown up to become teenagers, Hinata and Kiba included.
To be honest, this is where the KibaHina interactions end. I wasn't kidding when I said Kishimoto didn't give them enough screentime. In fact, this pairing is close to being fanon (even minus their platonic interaction in the manga). However, even with this being said, the fillers helped a great deal a lot to expand the KibaHina fandom even further. Even though fillers will never ever be canon, I can't tell you how much I still enjoyed watching my beloved OTP interact with each other, with Kiba being such a darling and Hinata being just as sweet as ever. The fillers even helped expand the Team 8 reunion three years later in the anime, such as Kiba teasing Hinata about her crush on Naruto, Kiba fanning Hinata when she fainted, and both of them just enjoying each other's company a great deal a lot. ♥
Also, I'm probably being really biased here but I absolutely adore a one-sided relationship with the guy crushing and caring for the girl, but the girl is blinded by another, which was also why I immediately fell in love with this pair (and NaruSaku as well, lulz). It just has so much of an angsty feel to it, and I always - always - end up falling for the cocky yet goofy male character who gets little to no attention. It also generally has to do with how much I love Kiba's character with a passion, as well as the entire Team 8 balance as a whole (seriously, I even like ShinoHina a little bit).
Even though I know this pairing will never be canon, they will always be my most treasured and beloved duo of all time. They were the first true Naruto relationship I ever fell in love with, and even though NaruSaku has grown to be my top OTP now, I'll never stop loving on KibaHina either. But see, this is where fandom comes into play - you can play around with the characters so much, its incredible. Thats why I get so much enjoyment out of reading fanfiction, looking up fanartists and collecting doujinshi. Because I know that even though its not a canon pairing, I can still enjoy shipping it like no tomorrow. ♥
